又是春天，科大已是春色满园。您是否还记得留下我们青春回忆的校园？是否还记得初见科大校园的情景。那时我们年轻，我们自豪，因为我们成为了中国科大的学子！

多年过去，中国成为世界经济火车头，我们得以在海外分享她和平崛起的荣耀，但她也面临着贫富分化，这是祖国成长的烦恼。随着学费迅速增长，高校贫困生问题一度成为公众、媒体焦点。那些一贫如洗的学子，那些无奈的目光，给我们多少忧伤和爱怜？多年之后，中国高校里，寒家子弟受到了更多关怀。欣慰之外，我们自豪，因为数千名科大校友的爱心，帮助过数百科大学生。今天这些英才已经走向世界，作为校友，您足以为此骄傲！

 

十年前的暮春时节，科大校友基金会在海外诞生。十年一日，筚路蓝缕，数百名志愿者不取分文，为之义务工作，数千名校友为之贡献爱心，今天我们成为大陆高校中最朝气蓬勃的校友基金会！六年前的春天，基金会同仁自费考察贫困生状况启动了爱心奖学金项目。短短数月，爱心奖得到几百位校友的响应，至今筹款近百万人民币。爱心奖是校友基金会历史上最为成功的项目。成功属于科大，光荣属于校友，属于您！

 

爱心奖学金六年历史，有太多动人故事：99年春天波士顿马拉松大赛上，代表校友基金会出征的张宏校友汗洒长街，跑完八十里漫漫长路！科大校友的不屈精神和的感人爱心，为爱心奖学金赢得超过两万美元捐款。李骁军、张化一两位校友分别捐出数万元股票，使几十名学生受益；01年盛夏，四川考生冯越宇高分考入科大，媒体曝光他“愁望大学路”，数小时之内，超过100名校友慷慨表示愿意资助，急切的校友将打到他的中学和家庭所在乡政府要求资助。最终校友基金会通过抽签决定资助人，此事媒体争相报道，科大校友之爱心曾经感动中国！

 

时光飞逝，校友对母校的真情没有流逝；十年过去，一代人已经成长！02年9月，9600班从美国、新加坡、中国汇来几十笔捐款，并致信校友基金会要求设立爱心奖学金。9600爱心奖，成为当时科大最年轻校友设立的奖学金，他们中不少人恰好是最早获得校友基金会奖励的学生。这些初出茅庐、分布在世界各地的年轻校友以及他们奉献的爱心，成为科大人追求卓越、心怀母校的最佳见证！

Dear USTCers,

 

Many years have passed, but we still vividly remember the excitement when we first entered the front gate of the USTC? We were the Young, the  Proud, the Fresh USTCers.

 

Many years have passed, China has become a global economic power though with its own problem of disparity between rich and poor.  

 

It is no longer news that many students have to  endure financial hardship to pursue their dreams. Some of them are so poor they could not even afford the travel expense to reach their destiny.

 

We, the Passionate, the Proud, the USTCers have  big hearts. Back in 1999, the USTCAF Goodwill Scholarship was endowed to help those financially challenged students. $100K Goodwill Scholarship  has benefited hundreds of students in the past 6 years and they are able to finish their study in  USTC and even follow your footsteps to reach their fullest potential.

 

Once again, your generousity is urgently needed to continue the goodwill legacy. Guaranteed Goodwill Scholarship has been reformed to cover Freshman Class only. However, further upport in the  remaining three years has to come from Goodwill Sponsors. All it takes to warm one more heart is just $900 (or equivalent of $300/year for 3 years).
